1983-1992
In the years from 1983-1992, after moving to Berlin from London, I began to photograph the people around me. I belonged to a strong squatter scene in which I found many people with interesting stories to tell. Some of them are unbelievable, some banal, all of them intensely lived. The collection became an exhibition which was showed in Singen, Berlin and later went to the European Culture Capital, Glasgow, as a part of a Berlin Photographer´s group show.

The show takes an idea a step further which I had developed at the beginning of my photography; documenting the people around me as a way of reflecting myself and my life. The use of text in a "haiku" form serves to build a tension between the "text" that is developed in the head of the viewer to explain the photo and the "true" text, the real life of the subject - which is often contradictory.
